Anyone considering a move to the Orlando area should start their search for housing at Hunter’s Creek, a vibrant community southeast of Orlando proper that has something for just about anyone: families, singles, empty nesters, seniors, renters or owners. Much of the community was developed during the 1980s and ’90s, but there are still units under construction for buyers looking for something completely new.

The entire community of Hunter’s Creek covers 4,000 acres over which 35 different neighborhoods of single-family homes are nestled. And the home styles and prices are as varied as the owners who live there. There are villas, fairway homes and estates with water views. Apartment dwellers will find a large variety of one-, two- and three-bedroom units in seven different multi-family neighborhoods: Camden Hunter’s Creek, Colonial Grand at Heather Glen, Colonial Grand at Hunter’s Creek, the Cottages at Hunter’s Creek, Osprey Links, the Parks at Hunter’s Creek and Urbana.

The community also offers four condominium properties — Audubon Villas, Capri at Hunter’s Creek, Golfview and Villanova — and one townhouse development called Chartres Gardens.

Despite its size, Hunter’s Creek is a cohesive community with numerous opportunities for residents to become involved and meet their neighbors through the many established clubs and social groups. For example the Hunter’s Creek Women’s Association is involved in civic projects; and seniors will feel at home in an organization called the Fabulous 50s. Residents can volunteer to be part of Citizens on Patrol, a neighborhood watch group, or the Community Emergency Response Team.

Hunter’s Creek is an unincorporated area of Orange County, but its location could not be more optimal. Close to the Orlando International Airport and downtown Orlando, its central location also offers easy access to Florida’s East Coast beaches as well as Central Florida’s many entertainment attractions.

Plus the community has just about every amenity that someone who lives an active lifestyle might want close to home. There are seven parks located in the nearly 4-square-mile area. They range from shaded and secluded green spaces with walking paths to larger expanses that are activity-oriented with basketball, tennis and shuffleboard courts, baseball and soccer fields, fishing docks and picnic pavilions.

One of the largest recreation areas, Osprey Park, has a social center where residents can play foosball, pool, table tennis, board games, video games, cards, or enjoy programs on a large-screen TV. Most of the annual community events are held at Osprey Park, many of them connected with a holiday. Hunter’s Creek’s annual events include a Bunny in the Park spring event and a fall festival organized by the >Hunter’s Creek Women’s Association as well as a Fourth of July Celebration, Halloween Creep Nights with a haunted house and hay ride that’s organized by the Hunter’s Creek Community Association.

Residents of Hunter’s Creek are further served by a healthy mix of commercial spaces in and around the community. Local restaurants and drinking spots offer international cuisines to satisfy a variety of tastes. Among the best are Tijuana Flats Mexican Restaurant, Padrino’s Cuban Bistro, Hunter’s Creek Golf Club, A Slice of New York Pizza, Miller’s Ale House, El Inka Grill Peruvian Restaurant and Sabana Cafe.
